post 2 for response on article

Censors come calling

According to the article, the internet’s flexibility is still limited by the censorship. We can not say 100% free of speech and rights in every country. The limited of cyberspace phenomenon is not only show in the Socialism countries, but also show in the democratic countries.

China is a representative nation which has large number of internet censors to work for the government. The Chinese government ban every scandal which is threatened. My experience of this really can tell. When I back to mainland of China (Hong Kong and Macao are different), I can not open any websites in Taiwan, and even it does not contain any “forbidden” words. That’s all because the Chinese government worries the citizens in mainland of China have any connection in Taiwan (i.e. intelligence agent) as we know, most of the citizen journalism using blog to post their articles. In China, we also can blog things, but if the content contains “unacceptable” things; and the article couldn’t be post till the content is amended.

From this article, Australia has the similar situation. “No other comparable country has the internet censorship laws that we have” Graham says. The Australian Communications and Media Authority is intituled the toughest rules in the world. Remember the Big Brother show in 2006, after that event, the Australia government start to focus more on the censorship. The government filter and block some website which involves the sexual elements.

As the result, the government controls the media, also include the cyberspace. So, WATCH OUT your mouth!!!

my understanding of citizen journalism

It is week3, so time to post some serious things which relays to the course project, citizen journalism.
Citizen journalism also called participatory journalism or democratic journalism by the public. As these names, it is for giving opinions, critiques and news for free to share and it is realistic. Citizen journalism is made for people who have thoughts and opinions. The most general media to be used in citizen journalism is blog.
It is encouraged to post images, videos, articles, sounds and illustration on the blog. Citizen journalism doesn’t need to consider that much education level and any nationalities. Any one on the internet has the rights to speak; and it’s used very widely. Some of the countries manipulate the news from the media; or the journalists have limited power to report some news. Citizen journalism can report the truth of the news from the general public.

The unique point of view is also one specific aspect. It doesn’t need any professional techniques to post any of the news. Colloquial language, ironical critiques or any sense of humours can be used in any posts. Don’t need to consider the words account for the news or articles. It is read by the publics whether educated or uneducated people; young or old; rich or poor. Some good citizen journalists can explain the things more clearly and understandable then the professional one. Put in this way, if I was a person who has no idea on the economy or business stuffs. I could not clearly understand what’s happened in the stock market these days and I couldn’t get any knowledge from the newspaper. Well, some citizen journalist could explain the difficulty things into an easy understanding language and also have their own opinions.

The citizen journalism not only meets the audience want, but also promotes the communication globally. And, IT IS FREE la !!!!
Maybe, the politicians come to collect the ideas, too !!!
